Alan is from Wales and graduated from Sheffield University. He trained in Queensland, Wales, and the North Trent and West Midland regions. He completed his subspecialty training in Upper Gastrointestinal and Obesity Surgery at The Northern General and The Royal Hallamshire Hospials in Sheffield, and Fremantle Hospital Western Australia. Having attained a diploma in Medical Law from Northumbria University he returned to Western Australia in 2004 to take up a post at Fremantle Hospital as a Specialist Upper Gasrointestinal Surgeon. His main interests are oesophagogastric malignancies, laparoscopic treatment of morbid obesity, giant hiatus hernia and reflux disease, and the endoscopic management of oesophagogastric conditions.

Other Interests
I enjoy most sports and am a member of the WACA and the Western Force and
regularly attend the AFL matches at Subiaco Oval. I am the proud father of three
boys and love spending as much time as possible with them.
